Weekend Assignment(s)
November 6, 2009 by cdaphoto
Today- Complete the blog quickly and then do what guest teacher Mr. Pafford says to do. Remember- be good. Anyone mentioned for anything other than being a great person will get 5 days of cleanup duty.
WEEKEND ASSIGNMENTS-
1. Get a full page COLOR photo out of a magazine. Make sure it is a photo- not a drawing, painting, or collage of multiple photos. Just a full page photo that is school approriate- the more random it is the better. Tear it out of the magazine and bring it into to school.
2. The photo assignment for the weekend- MOTION. You are to create a photo that shows motion. Take a look HERE for some examples. PANNING is a great way to show movement in a photo. No matter the content of the photo, the best way to show motion is to use a slow shutter speed. Shoot in manual mode or shutter priority mode, and get the shutter speed under 1/30th of a second. If you don’t have these modes, switch your camera to LANDSCAPE mode (remember in landscape mode you will get a small aperture which equals a longer shutter speed).
You can also try shooting when the sun is not as bright (or shoot inside). The less light there is, the longer the shutter speed will need to be to get a good exposure.

It’s saying that if you do the assignment wrong you a bad photographer. No i don’t agree. I don’t think i am a bad photographer. That you are bad if you can’t follow directions.
Any assignment can be a unique one, even if it doesn’t sound very creative or good the best photographer in the world would be able to create magic out of it. However, the bad photographer would not do anything with the assignment and fail like some of the member in this very class room.
All the photos that you take are good for your skill but can also suck. I agree and also disagree. I think that its true that you can be a bad photographer but your pictures can still be great. I can learn that i need to get better at photography so i can take great photos.
I think this person was trying to say if your good enough to get assignments then you shouldn’t be complaining about it. Thats what makes you a bad photographers. Appreciate what you have.
This quote is trying to say that any assignment can be turned into an amazing photograph. All it takes is creativity. I agree with this because nothing is impossible when it comes to photography. From this quote, one can learn that anything is possible and to be as creative as possible with photography.
What this quote is saying is that don’t blame the assignment on the bad photographs. If the photographs are bad it is your fault not the assignments. I completely agree with this quote.
I think that the quote “There is no such thing as bad photo assignments … only bad photographers.” is trying to say that it not what you are told, it is what you do with what you are told. If somebody told a person that jumping off bridges is fun, and they decide to go jump off a bridge and die, it is not the person who said that it would be fun. It would be the guy who decided to jump off the to see what it was likes fault. I definitely agree with this quote because it is true. No matter what you is said to you, it is how you apply to it. From this quote you can learn to take what you hear and go for it. If you fail it is your own fault.
I think that it’s trying to say that if you dont do good in a photo project, your a bad photographer. I don’t think that this is true, I don’t agree with this quote. I would say that if you mess up, try again.
I believe that what the person was trying to say was that your camera is gifted same with the person be hide the camera. The shutter is so interesting that it make everything along one pic moving around it.
I think that this quote is trying to say that there are no such things as a bad photograph they all will be liked as some one but the photographer can be a bad photographer and just get the shot by accident. I don’t agree with it because even the best photographers can get the picture that they want by accident but that doesn’t make them bad. That not everything has to be taken the perfect way they can be accidents.
The quote means that the photographer cant make an excuse for every picture that he takes, by saying that this assignment is not very good. The only way to get a good photo is by being a good photographer.
The person who said this quote is trying to tell us that there is no bad or worthless objective. The only thing that could make the outcome bed is an inexperienced photographer. when an experienced one is assigned for the job, even if its the same job as the inexperienced photographer, the better one will always take the better photographs.
I think that this quote is saying that you cant blame a bad photo on your camera equipment. I do agree with this because if you take the time and commitment it takes to get a good photo it should not matter what kinda camera you have. I can learn that in life even if you don’t have the best you can make it the best if you have the commitment it takes.
I think the person who said this is rude. And I do disagree because I think everyone can be a good photographer if they take their time and put effort into it. I mean, there are people out there who are better at photography than others but that doesn’t necessarily mean the other people are JUST flat out bad photographers. Sometimes the assignment is a bad assignment.
This quote is saying that if someone can’t do a photo assignment that it’s not the assignment that’s bad . It’s the photographer who can’t take the shot . I do agree because many people can take photos that other people can’t . So it’s not because of a certain assignment.
I think what this quote is saying is that there is no impossible task in photography there are only people that cannot complete it. I disagree with this quote because i think photography is a matter of opinion. Some people may think a photo is the greatest thing in the world and others may hate it. So i think that when he says “… only bad photographers” That’s where i disagree.
That there can’t be any bad assignments only the photographer can make them look bad. I agree with this quote because it is very true that only a photographer can do a horrible job. What I can learn from this quote is that it is possible to be the world worse photographer even when doing the worlds easiest.
You need to learn how to take a picture. I agree, because you can make a good picture out of a bad one by taking a good picture in the first place. To take my time on taking pictures, take good photos everywhere I go.
I think that this quote is trying to say that there is no assignment that can’t be done it just depends on the person who is doing the photo assignment. I agree with this quote because I think that the assignment can be done as long as you can do it.
I think this quote is trying to say that any photo assignment that you have, even if it’s really hard and it seems like it wold be extremely boring or plain to photograph, you can put some flare into it to make it exciting and fun to look at. I agree with this quote because if you put your mind to whatever you’re doing, anything is possible.
That there are only bad photographers and not bad photo assignments. I do agree with this quote. I agree with the quote because with every assignment there are great places, people and things we can take pictures of weather you are capable of being a great photographer or not. You can learn from this quote that it is never the assignment that suck it is just you.
I think the quote is saying that you can’t blame a crappy photo on an assignment. The assignment has nothing to do with the fact that a person sucks or lacks creativity. I do agree with this quote. Anyone who isn’t motivated enough to try and make the best out of an assignment, will try to say that the assignment just wasn’t their thing. Just because someone can’t take a picture doesn’t mean the assignment was bad.
I think that the quote “There is no such thing as bad photo assignments … only bad photographers.” means that no matte what kind of photo assignment you get, if you are a good photographer, you should be able to make it the best as possible. I agree with this quote because it is true. Getting a boring photo assignment is a possibility, but even though it may be a boring assignment doesn’t mean you have to make a boring photo out of it. You can always do things to make that photo assignment better. Just by where you take the picture, what angle to take the picture at, and what the image portrays can spice up a picture in a heartbeat. You just have to put the time and effort in to make that excellent image. Anybody in photography class, or in the world can do that as long as they take there time and really think about it. I can learn from this quote to take my time while taking pictures. If it’s not a fun photo assignment, make it one! Spice up the picture as much as you possibly can.
I agree with the quote “There is no such thing as bad photo assignments … only bad photographers.” I agree with it because I think it is true. A great photographer can take a good picture out of almost anything by thinking outside the box. But, a bad photographer would think that it’s the place of the think that they are taking a picture of, and think that’s why it didn’t turn out great, or why it’s not very good. I think that there are no bad photo assignments, although there are boring ones or hard one, you should be able to get a pretty good picture no matter what the assignment is.
I totally agree with this statement. It is so true. The only thing a photo assignment is, is it may be hard, but not bad. I do have a hard time with some pictures. Being a bad photographer is pretty harsh though. I would not want to be called a bad photographer if I didn’t succeed on one photo assignment.
I agree with the quote. Even if you have a crappy assignment, a good photographer can make something good from nothing. Some people can shine a turd if they’re smart enough.
He is saying something like you are a bad photographer if you do the assignment like wrong or really bad. But I don’t agree with the quote.
i think this quote is trying to say that there are people who don’t want to accept a challenge of a photo assignment as such making them “bad” photographers. and there are no good photographers just ones that will accept the challenge of a photo assignment
This quote means that you can only make the photo assignment bad. If you want to make it good you will try and get a good picture. You can learn to try and take pictures outside the box instead of just looking straight on at something.
I think the quote is trying to say that there is no bad way to take a photo, and if someone thinks there is, they don’t have the ability to think outside the box. I do agree with the quote because as photographers, we need to have the ability to realize that we don’t know it all and can always improve. It can definitely be applied to other aspects of life as well. We can always learn something more.
This quote is completely true because it doesn’t matter what subject it is, all that matters is the skill of the photographer. If a photographer is great at what he does, he can take a picture of anything and make it a great picture. Then there’s those who suck at taking pictures and can make an easy subject to take a picture of, a bad picture. So I completely agree with this quote, “There is no such thing as bad photo assignments… only bad photographers.”
This quote is trying to say that all photos are different and there is no such thing as a bad picture only bad photographers because they choose what they take pictures of. So I guess I agree with this quote. I can learn from this that no pictures are bad and that photographers can do whatever they want.
I don’t really agree with the quote,“There is no such thing as bad photo assignments … only bad photographers.” I don’t think there are bad photographers, I think there is just some that ar better than others.
I think that this quote is trying to say that only bad photographers will think that a photo assignment is bad. A good photographer will accept an assignment no matter how difficult it is, because the more photos you take, the more you will improve. I do agree with this quote because everyone could use more practice at taking difficult photos. I can learn from this quote to always accept a challenge in anything because I can only learn from my experiences and hopefully I can get better at whatever I was challenged at…
I have to say that I like the quote. It is pretty true, in that every assignment has the ability to be a good one, but not every photographer is great. So, like the quote said, there are no bad assignments. One thing that i disagree with is the generalization that if a photographer isn’t good at an assignment they are bad. Sometimes they just aren’t good in certain areas. Maybe they are amazing in other areas.
i dont agree with this quote if you dont do the assignment right dosent mean you are a bad photographer it just means you didnt completely understand it or couldn’t get exactly what they want
I agree with this quote because the only hard part about being a photographer is trying to get the right and right picture to take but other wise it is not hard to do the assignment.
Well the photographer may not now what they are looking for. So if they have an assignment and it sucks, then its the photographer to blame. Not the camera or the assignment. So I agree with the quote.
I agree with this quote. Simply its saying don’t hate the game hate the player, well maybe not but in a way yes. I think you can learn from this quote because a lot of photographers or kids in photography don’t like their assignments but in reality its just because they cant get a good shot of it.
I don’t really think this quote is true, i think that assignments could be bad but i think you can try hard enough to make a good photo. So i don’t really believe that there is such things as bad photographers or bad photo assignments. I think if you try hard enough to make a good photo you totally can. but i think if your close minded about it i think that would be the only reason why someone wouldn’t make good photos.
I do agree with this quote. A really good photographer can be creative with anything and make it interesting. They can take a picture of a bottle cap, or a chair, or anything commonplace like that, and make it look artistic. These photo assignments are a good way to practice being creative.
I think the quote is trying to say that maybe if the photographer put more thought into the assignment they’d get better, more artistic looking pictures out of it. Even the most obscure of photo assignments should have potential to produce great pictures, and it is the photographer’s fault if they don’t get decent photos.
What this quote is saying is that any photographer can make a ridiculous assignment and make it into a beautiful image because it’s not what you take a photo of, it’s the skills that it takes to take a god photo. Yes, I agree with this quote because we can apply this to our class when we are assigned an assignment that we don’t agree with, then we’ll do it anyway because it makes you a better photographer.
This quote is saying that no matter what, a good photographer can make an interesting photo out of anything by being creative and thinking differently. A bad photographer just takes a picture, putting no thought into it, and doesn’t try new techniques. If they don’t like a photography assignment, then in their mind, it’s bad and useless. I agree with this quote because if you want to be a good photographer, then you have to think outside the box and accept any assignment you’re given, knowing that you can make something out of it.
I think that the quote “There is no such thing as bad photo assignments … only bad photographers.” is trying to say that you can make a photo out of anything, as long as you are a good photographer. I agree with this quote because as long as you have a creative mind, you should be able to make a picture out of anything.
I AGREE with this quote you cannot blame your camera or anything else. JUst yourself. BYE!
I disagree with this quote because i don’t think there is such a thing as a “bad photographer” I don’t think that you can be good or bad i just think that there are different types of photographers and everyone has their own personal opinion on the picture. Like in the blog a looooong time ago take criticism but everyone is entitled to their opinion and it doesn’t mean that they are right. People who usually say “oh thats bad photography” are full of themselves really. You can’t say that there is BAD photography because like i said everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Ya i have to go the sub wont let me type anymore….
I think this quote is trying to say that you can have good or bad assignments, but they don’t affect how good your photos are. It doesn’t matter if it’s a bad assignment, it’s how the photographer uses his creativity on the assignment to make a good picture, and improve their skill. So yes, I so agree with that quote. You can learn that taking on challenges is what makes you a better thinker, but successfully taking and making the photos is what makes you a better photographer. The quality of the assignments don’t matter.
I think that its kinda messed up,
Because like really, why would you tell someone there a bad photographer.?
I Mean if you give them an assignment, and it’s the opposite of what their good at when it comes to photography,
I Mean… of course there not going t do well on it.
And that don’t make them a bad photographer, it makes the assignment stupid, or stupid to that person at least, and that makes it a bad assignment.
The quote is saying that photographs aren’t bad, its the person that is taking the photos sucks at it. Well, it could go either way really, because a professional photographer could take a bad picture. I can learn everything from this quote.
I disagree with this quote. I think it should be switched around so it says that there is no such thing as a bad photographer, just bad assignments, because there really isn’t such a thing as a bad photographer. Some people may view another person as a bad photographer, but that person may view himself as a great photographer! YA!
Well it sounds like what this “person” is saying is that it doesn’t matter what it is you’re taking pictures of, just as long as you do well at it. and I agree.
I think that I don’t really know what I think of this quote. I think that it’s kind of true because like you shouldn’t blame a failed photo on a bad assignment. The assignment shouldn’t effect the quality of your picture and should not be used as an excuse. I can learn from this quote that you need to take responsibility for your pictures and don’t have excuses. If something doesn’t work out I’m going to try something different and think outside of the box that we all live in.
I think this quote is trying to say to us that if you are assigned a photo assignment you should be able to complete the assignment and come up with something unique with your own imagination and if you cant then you are not putting your best effort into it.
I kinda of agree with this statement and then I don’t because sometimes its really hard to get a good photo that meets the requirements and sometimes its really easy. You can learn from this quote to do your best at everything that you do.
It is trying to say that you cant blame a photograph you blame the photographer. I disagree. It may have just been a bad day. Don’t have a bad day just because something does not work out for you.
“There is no such thing as bad photo assignments … only bad photographers.” – Anonymous
I think it’s saying that there aren’t any impossible assignments in photography, how the photo turns out just depends on whose doing the assignment. I disagree with this quote, because everyone sees pictures differently. Someone may really like a photo, and someone else may hate it. It just depends.
“There is no such thing as bad photo assignments … only bad photographers.” This quote is just a little bit confusing to me. I think that what it is saying is that there are know bad pictures, because they all have a special meaning weather we think so or not. I also think that its true that there are know bad pictures, there are only bad photographers. I don’t really think that there are bad photographers, i just think that maybe they are just not meant to be professional photographers.
I think the quote is saying that you can’t blame the photo assignment if your picture stinks. If you are a good photographer then you would not be saying that the assignment sucks, you would be excited take a good picture. I agree with the quote for the most part, how you can’t blame the assignment. But, I do think that sometimes the assignment isn’t your thing. You just have to do it anyways.
It seems to me that a photographer’s job is not just taking a picture, but making a picture. I feel like this quote is saying that no project is a bad project, but some people wait for the picture to make itself, and so when the time comes to show your work its junk. A good photographer should be able to make the picture and take it. I think it boils down to understanding that you can get anything you want out of the photo, and you should not limit yourself to examples from the way other people see that project, and realize there are unlimited ways to see a situation.
I agree with this. I think that anyone can make a picture cool looking or even stand out to a curtain point. But I also believe that it depends on how hard you work on the picture.
“There is no such thing as bad photo assignments … only bad photographers.” – Anonymous The quote is saying that if you are really a good photographer you can turn a bad or stupid assignment into something beautiful. I guess I agree with the quote because for the most part it does make sense. I learned, from my own assumptions about the quote, that if you really have passion for photography you will even do the stupid assignments.
I disagree. I don’t think there’s really a wrong way to photograph something because it’s your interpretation of whatever the subject of the photo is… That’s a really closed-minded way to look at things, if you ask me…
It is saying that if you can’t take a photo the way some one wants, its not because it was a bad request, it is because you are a bad photographer because you don’t know how to used your camera right. I agree with it because if you can use your camera right there is no way you can become a good photographer. People can learn that it pays to know your limits and the limits of your tools, and how to use the camera correctly. A photographers entire life depends on if he know how to use his camera or not.
“There is no such thing as bad photo assignments … only bad photographers.” – Anonymous
I think the person who said this tries to tell us that bad photographers make bad pictures. The assignments you have to make pictures of, are not bad ideas but if you don’t do the assignment good, you can’t blame the assignment but you have to blame yourself because you didn’t do a good job. I don’t know if I would disagree or agree with this quote. I think on one side it is true, because you have to give attention on the assignments but on the other side I think some photo assignments are really hard to understand and to make pictures of. Some people, like to make pictures from something totally different then others. I do disagree more with this quote then I agree with the quote. I thought that no one was a bad photographer, you could learn more how to make photos and the different techniques but that doesn’t that if you don’t know all the techniques you can’t make a good picture. If some people don’t like to be a professional photographer, doesn’t mean that they can’t make pictures on like holidays and stuff. But it is true that there are better photographers, then others.
“There is no such thing as bad photo assignments … only bad photographers.” Well this quote I guess I kinda agree with it except that if the assignment was to take a picture of a door, then that isn’t going to be a good picture. So it depends on the assignment and the photographer.
I agree with the quote because, even if it is a bad assinment, a good photographer will make a good photo.
I think this quote is trying to say that that people can suck at taking photos of something but other people can shoot the same thing but it looks good. So it is the person that makes the photo bad not the assignment. I agree with this quote becase it has to do with person and what they like. and because they might not have any interest in what the assignment is so they mght not put as uch effort in them either. I have already heard a quote like this.. So i have already thought about t before but what i can learn from it is that people will always be better than one another. Just take pictures of what interest me but if it is something that does not interest me then still take a picture.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm………. I don’t exactly agree or disagree…. I think that there is always an exception to everything. Like say that you were a really good photographer and you were assigned to a boring assighnment.
I believe What this quote is trying to say is that a photo assignment is never bad it can be shot by any photography and look a thousand different ways but all it takes is one bad photographer to mess it up and make it look horrible. just because a photographer makes a picture look like crap doesn’t mean the assignment was a bad one.
I agree with this quote. I believe its saying that if you take a crappy photo and it does not turn out good that you cant blame it on the assignment, it was most likely the way that you took the picture. There are many ways to take different photos such as Light-speed “ISO”, Panning or even telephoto photography, so do not blame a crappy picture on the assignment, blame it on the lack of ability to be creative.
I, Scott McMurdie, disagree with quote. There are such this as bad photo assignments. Example of this is a assignment of of a white board or something very simple. There is some truth to this quote tho. Hell ya. I, Scott McMurdie, disagree with quote. There are such this as bad photo assignments. Example of this is a assignment of of a white board or something very simple. There is some truth to this quote tho. Hell ya.
I think this is trying to say you are not a bad photographer if you try. I do agree.Do not give up on your self
This quote is something that I agree with. A good photographer is able to make even the most simplistic scenes look amazing. Maybe it won’t be the most moving photo ever, or the most extravagant, maybe it will. It could be something amazing from seemingly nothing.
“There is no such thing as bad photo assignments … only bad photographers.” – Anonymous
I honestly don’t really understand this quote, I think that maybe it means you are never given an bad assignment, you are the one that makes it good or bad. You are the one to make the picture turn out either good or bad by the effort you put into it.
I think the photographer is trying to say that if your a good photographer it doesn’t matter what you take pictures of. If your good you can take pictures of anything, whether you like it or not. I think it is also saying that you can take bad pictures with any assignment. The assignment might be not that exciting but you can still take good pictures if your a good photographer.
I agree with this quote what I think it is saying is that if you take a crappy photo over and over again, it will make you seem like a bad photographer, and you can’t just blame it on the assignment you are doing. It was the way you took the picture, which made it look bad-ish. Doesn’t mean you make each assignment look like crap though.
I think that he is right. No matter what your taking a picture a good photographer would take a good photo of whatever it is. I think that he is totally correct.
The quote is saying that if you’re a good photographer, you can make anything seem interesting. I completely disagree. There are certain assignments where this is impossible. If they give you something plain, like a piece of paper (I don’t know why they would, but they could), you wouldn’t be able to make that interesting. If you’re a good photographer you may be able to make many things interesting, but not everything.
I agree with it I guess. I think its trying to say that as long as you are putting effort into your photos then they are pretty good… but there are bad photographers too. And there are stupid photos. So I think there are a few exceptions but for the most part I agree
I think that the quote means that what the photo is supposed be can’t be bad but the photographer who takes it can make it be a bad photo in general. I agree, because anything that is a photo can be good in some way but the photographer can just make it not good but the type of photo is still good. That you shouldn’t complain about having to take some type of photograph even if you think it isn’t a good type of picture because that just means you make it a bad photograph not the photo itself. So do your best on any type of photo assignment even if you don’t like it.
I think the quote is trying to say that you can take a picture of anything and you could make it a picture or it could be saying that if you dish your pictures you can make them bad which would make you a bad photographer.. soo…. I agree because if you down talk your photos then the words will make your photo truly bad.
The quote is trying to say that if you mess up try again. Everyone makes mistakes don’t put myourself down and bring yourself up and keep going.
What the quote is saying is that you can turn anything assigment into a wonderful photo your you can make it in to a pice of nothing because its your choice. I agree with the quote because you have to have the right mind set to make anything great. You can learn that it counts whether or not your in a good or right mood to take anything on.
I think that the photo is trying to say that anybody can make a good assignment because it was important to them and came from their heart, but it doesn’t mean that the photo that they took was good. I can learn from this quote that everyone can be good and bad at photography..
I think the quote is saying that good photographers can make the best of whatever assignment they need to do. I agree with this because it’s just plain true. Bad assignments do not exist as long as the photographer has a good enough attitude to make it better. Good attitudes can make anything better actually. I’ve learned that in life. That’s what the quote is saying too. And I’m pretty sure that’s what almost every parent tells their kids, and if they don’t then its still impossible that everyone on this earth hasn’t heard about this valuable life lesson because everyone says it. I know this for a fact.
The quote is stating simply that there is never a bad photo assignment, because every assignment give helps a photographer grow, learning new technics to apply to their future work, but that there are only bad photographers. What the quote means by this is that the ones who complain and try to fight the assignment are not really good photographers at all. Great photographers are willing to expand their knowledge by trying something new. You have to be willing to look at things a little differently and apply them to your own style to be truly great. I agree with this quote, because you can never learn anything if your not willing to try something new first. Everyone fails at one point, but it is their failure and ability to rise up from it that truly defines them. There isn’t such a thing as a better photographer, only someone who is further down their own journey then you are.
“There is no such thing as bad photo assignments … only bad photographers.” – Anonymous
I agree with this quote. I think that it means that any assignment given, whether it seems impossible, boring, etc, a good photographer can take that “boring” assignment and turn it around completely to turn out with an amazing photograph. As long as you put heart and soul into it, a picture of anything can turn out extraordinary.
I think that this quote is trying to say that an assignment is not really as bad as you may think that it is, It is all in the hands of the photographer. I agree and disagree. I think that it could go either way. I think that there can be bad photo assignments but I do not think that, that makes a bad picture. From this quote I can learn that I just always need to try my best with my picture. Never give up when things get a little hard. Always just keep on pushing yourself to work harder at what you really want.
This Quote “there is no such thing as bad photo assignments…only bad photographers.” means, to me that when an assignment is given to you just because you can get a good picture doesn’t mean the assignment given to you was bad it is how you took it or how hard to tried to succeed on the photo. To technically it is the photographer that made it bad because your the one holding the camera and pushing the button so your responsible for how the picture comes out. The camera cant take the picture the photographer does. This quote is completely true.
“There is no such thing as bad photo assignments … only bad photographers.”
I think this quote is saying that all photo assignments are good because you can take a picture of anything and make it into something beautiful. but if you dont not try then you cant be a good photographer. I think this is true if you try anyone can take a good picture.
Something I think this quote is trying to say is that eery picture is a good picture, and if its not so good then it can be transformed
through photoshop. I don’t agree with this person because I think that everyone can be a good photographer. Something I can learn from this quote is that you’ll be judged on not just what you look like, but for what you do
I think that the quote means that if you don’t try hard enough then you are not a good photographer. I agree with this quote because if you cant take the time to make the assignment better then you are a bad photographer because your to lazy to turn the bad assignment to something better. I think this quote will help because then i can think on how i can make the assignment way better then how it was before.
From this quote, I think that he is trying to say that anything can be photographed and made into a piece of art. But it depends on the photographer and their interpretation of the subject to make it art. A photographer doesn’t take a picture. they make a photograph and turn something simple into a piece of art with a deeper meaning. This substitute is about to teach us real photography. I’ll see if he knows the true meaning photography and how to pass it on. I think he is going to give us a photo assignment so I am going to see how this correlates to him.
“There is no such thing as bad photo assignments … only bad photographers.”
What is this quote trying to say? Do you agree or disagree? Why or why not? What can you learn from this quote?
I think this quote means that there is no bad assignments there are just bad photographers that take really bad photographs. I agree completely with this quote because it just says it plain and simple there are NO bad photograph assignments there are only bad photographers which means that you have to make it look good or else it will look like you are really bad at photography. Also there are probably really hard assignments but that still does not mean that you cant try and do good on that assignment. But I do think that there is some different exceptions to this quote. You could interpret this quote as bad like ability or you could interpret it as bad lighting and such like that but then again i guess there isn’t really any exceptions to this quote. So ya i guess I changed my mind. I can learn a lot about this quote but I think that there is mainly one point to it. And that is that you cant make any exceptions why you cant do that or why it is bad so make excuses. I really like this quote.
“There is no such thing as bad photo assignments … only bad photographers.” –What is this quote trying to say? Do you agree or disagree? Why or why not? What can you learn from this quote?
This quote, I think, is trying to say that, along with all of the other quotes we’ve been given along those lines, it isn’t the equipment, the assignment, the area, or the setting that you shoot the photo i, but the photographer that makes the picture great. You can be in the most beautiful area in the world, like a lush green junlge, but not be able to even come close to capturing the beauty of the area. It takes a good photographer to know how to capture light, get all the colors in, and take the picture that will get your message across in the right manor. Or even if you are in a desert, a dry, dead, baren desert, you can capture beauty if you know how. There really is a lot of beauty in the oddest of places, but only a true, driven photographer would be able to capture the beauty of an area that to everyone else, would look hopeless and without meaning or a message. There are many ways that you can look at that quote, It is a good and meaningful quote, although, twitch, if you’re reading this, it would be kind of cool if you could find a quote that was really different and really interesting, maybe something along the lines of what the guy said the other day. Anyway, as far as equipment goes, it you are a photograhper and you think that having all the best equipment and the best gear, you carry your things in the right cases, you take good care of your things, and you polish your stuff every day, you make sure that you are always updated on what is new in the world of photography, that still does not mean that you are going to be a good photograhper. It is NOT the equipment that defines you, or even sets the lines to define you, it is YOu that defines you and nothing else. You could be the poorest of photographers and have the crappiest of cameras and still make one of the best shots ever made. And it most definately is not the assignment that makes it a good or bad shot, it is you who makes it a good shot. Although there could be some assignments that, for some people, would be lower level then what they are capeble of and so you may slack of because you think its “too easy” or soemthing like that. But again, that is and always will be, your choice to slack off and not try your best just because you think soemthing is too easy. Although you might think that an assignment is too easy, you could decide to be really inventive and come up with a way to make the assignment more difficult for you, take is as a chalange, becauase it is easy, it could be considered difficult to do because you could take the initiative to get better at that subject. It is never the assignment, the area, or the time that makes your picture good. there isn’t anything that can MAKe your picture good, nothing and no one but you. You are in control of everything when it comes to photography. That is a lot like life, you are always in control of the things around you.
I do agree with this quote, although I find it kind of repetitive. Becaause we’ve had a lot of other quotes just like it. BUt taht doesn’t mean it isn’t a good peice of adivice I guess I’m just being stuck up and doing what I just said you could work around, thinking that its too easy, too much like what I already know. I want to learn something new twitch, throw a curve ball at us and give us a quote that is really hard to understand. I like things like that, that make you think about it. It really is nice to be able to stretch your mind instead of just letting it sit in the same place its been for about 3 to 4 years now. BUt yeah, I do agree with the quote, its a good one.
I think I do understand why you keep giving us the same kind of quote over and over again. its because its a really good peice of advice that people need to know and remember, so if you say it enough, maybe it will really stick in our heads, right?
I think that the thing that I can learn from this quote is that I need to always remind myself that I am the tool, I am the answer to the good pictures I take and I should never take myself for granted and always be thankful for the things that I can do, and always work to improve the things that I can not.
It is always important to remember things like that because If you take yourself for granted and start to think like most people do and think that it is up to chance as to how your pictures turn out.
Well I do think that the only people that suck at photography are the ones that are not passionate about it and I know that there are a lot of kids in my school that think they are cool just because they have a super expensive camera and are in the advanced photo class. But the quote is accurate because u can take a good picture of anything u just need to try.
I believe that this quote is saying that there really is no bad assignment. They can be so random and so abstract, but they all have a point to them. There are, on the other hand, bad photographers. There is always potential to become a very inspirational photographer, but for some that is a long process that takes a long time. At some point in every photographer’s life, they pretty much suck. So many people freak out when one of their photos gets hammered on because it’s not good enough, when in reality they learn so much from that. Plus if we never failed then how could we succeed? Anyways, back to the quote. Photographers tend to blame their bad photos on their “bad assignment”. When you are given an assignment you are suppose to use your imagination! If a group of people are given an assignment, you are suppose to think of creative ways to present what is asked for in your own special way. You need to make it your own. You got to make your photograph stick out from all the rest of the photos presented.
I agree with this quote. I think that if you created a bad photograph and try to blame it on your assignment because it was a horrible assignment then you have your mind all messed up. Like I said it’s your job, as the photographer, to take you assignment, no matter how abstract, and make it your own. You have to put your own twist on it to create a good photo. If you can’t do this then you are just a bad photographer. I’m sorry, but that is that. There is always potential to progress though. What you can learn from this quote is pretty much self explanatory. The assignment you receive is never a bad assignment, so don’t blame your bad picture on it; your just a bad photographer. So harsh.
I think this person’s trying to say that there really isn’t any bad photography assignment, and if people think there is a bad assingment, then you’re just a bad photographer. A good photographer will not complain, and just do the work, probably with an optimistic attidude. A bad photographer will complain with the assignment and go into it with a pessimistic attidude and probably won’t want to do it… And they won’t admit that they aren’t the best photographer in the world.
I completely agree with this quote because it’s exactly right-if you’re gonna complain with assignment that are given to you, then yu’re just not a good photographer and a very hard working person in general. From this quote I can learn to not complain with things that are given to me in life and in photography class and the whole photography shabang itself.
“There is no such thing as bad photo assignments … only bad photographers.”
To me, this quote means that every photo assignment you have the opportunity to become a better photographer. A true photographer should be able to take a picture of anything and make it into art. So technically, there is no such thing as a bad photo assignment because all subjects can become art. I totally agree with this quote. I agree with this quote because there is so much art in this world. There is art in places that you would never expect it. This quote teaches is that someone can make beauty out of anything!
I think this quote is not true. To me it is pretty much saying that if you don’t do good at a photo assignment, that your a bad photographer. I don’t believe this. I think if you do bad you should try again and again until you get it right or do a decent job at it. My dad taught me to never give up. And i don’t. I try my hardest at things and do my best. I think everyone should live by that.
I think that the quote is saying that every photo assignment can be completed and if you think it can’t then you’re the bad photographer, it’s not the assignments problem. I agree. You should stretch yourself to complete the assignment and get it done. I learned that you can’t go too far, as long as it’s still ethical, of course.
I think that alot of assignments are good, but it also depends on how deep the picture can go. You have to try to make the picture stand out to many, or just yourself. And if you can make it make you feel good about the picture, your bound to get another good picture from it.
